What Buying a Home in Portland Really Looks Like: Anna & Lucas' Story

Every home search has its own story. When you're buying a home in Portland, no two journeys look exactly alike and that's exactly why having the right strategy and guidance matters.

For my recent buyers, Anna and Lucas, their search included a busy travel schedule, a surprisingly specific must-have, and a home that magically appeared in the most perfect spot. Their home search was filled with excitement, plenty of laughs, and a little bit of creative problem-solving. Thanks to a referral from some wonderful past clients and friends, my team had the opportunity to help them navigate the Portland real estate market and ultimately find a home that checked all the right boxes.

Their experience is a great example of what buying a home in Portland really looks like: preparation, patience, teamwork, and a little bit of serendipity.

Buying a Home in Portland Starts With the Right Team

When Anna and Lucas reached out, they already had an excellent lender, Aaron Nawrocki at Capital M Lending, helping them prepare financially for buying a house in Portland. Having financing lined up early gave them confidence to move quickly when the right opportunity came along.

From there, our job was to help them find the perfect place to call home.

Every Home Buyer Has a Different Wish List

Like every buyer, Anna and Lucas had a wish list for their new home. But one item quickly rose to the top: ceiling height.

Because they're both tall, finding a home with comfortable ceiling heights became more important than we initially expected. Many of Portland's beloved older homes, the ones Anna and Lucas were most drawn to, weren't designed with six-foot-plus homeowners in mind.

Between their busy travel schedule, we toured homes whenever they were in town, keeping an eye on new listings and adjusting our strategy as inventory changed.

Preparation Pays Off When Buying a Home in Portland

On the same day Anna and Lucas boarded a flight to Iceland, the perfect home hit the market in the perfect spot, just a few blocks from where they'd been renting. Because they had financing in place, understood the market, and had prepared in advance, we were able to move quickly and confidently, even from the other side of the ocean. Just a few short weeks later and Anna and Lucas are officially homeowners!

Why Teamwork Matters When Buying a Home in Portland

Real estate is rarely a solo effort. Anna and Lucas already had Aaron guiding them through financing, and I was fortunate to have my Bridge to Portland Group teammate, Patricia, helping throughout the transaction as well. Having experienced professionals working together creates a smoother experience from the initial search through closing day.

Congratulations again to Anna and Lucas! It was such a pleasure helping you find the right home, and we can't wait to see all the memories you'll make there.
