For me, real estate has always been about relationships.

Nearly 20 years ago, I met Beth and Alan when I coached their daughter’s basketball team. A few years later, their other daughter babysat my kids. Over the years, our paths continued to cross, so when they reached out for help with the next chapter of their lives, it felt incredibly special.

After raising their daughters in the same home for many years, they knew it was time for a change.

They had built lasting friendships, knew their neighbors, and couldn’t imagine leaving the community that had been home to their family for so long.

At the same time, many homeowners like Beth and Alan want to keep the things they love most close by: familiar neighbors, favorite local businesses, nearby parks, and the community they’ve spent years building.

Finding the Right Home Takes Patience

We toured several one-level homes, including opportunities both on and off the market. While some looked promising, none of them truly felt like the right fit.

Then, out of the blue one day, I received a text from a friend letting me know about a home that would be coming on the market in their neighborhood later that week.

Sometimes who you know can make all the difference.

We made sure we were among the very first buyers through the door. There were multiple offers on the home, but we put together a strong strategy and I was thrilled when our offer was accepted.

Of course, getting an offer accepted is only one part of the process.

There were a few things we negotiated during inspections, and, in the end, everyone felt good about moving forward. That’s always my goal—to help create a transaction where both buyers and sellers feel confident about the final outcome.

At the same time we were securing Beth and Alan’s next home, we were also preparing the house where they had raised their daughters for the market.
