Trading Yards and Finding Home: Sari and Jace’s Buy-and-Sell Journey
This story is long overdue, but too sweet not to share! I had the pleasure of helping Sari and Jace, the parents of some previous friends and clients, sell their home and find a new one closer to family as Jace entered retirement. Navigating the Portland real estate market can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re buying and selling at the same time, but their story is a perfect example of how planning, timing, and a little guidance can make the process smooth and even joyful.
Finding the Perfect New Home in Portland
Jace and Sari chose to buy their new home before selling their existing one so our journey started with finding the perfect new place. And we soon found it in Hillsboro! They loved their previous outdoor space and we found a home that would let them trade one beautiful yard for an even bigger one, perfect for their two spunky dachshunds to explore! The house had previously been an Airbnb so it also came with lots of furniture included. Most importantly, it was closer to family, giving them the comfort and connection they wanted for this next chapter.
Selling a Home in Portland: Sari & Jace’s Experience
Now that they had secured their new home, it was time to focus on putting their existing one on the market. Selling a home in Portland is always a big step. Sari and Jace’s house was filled with years of memories, and their dogs had loved romping in the beautiful backyard. I wanted to make sure their home’s best features were showcased so the right buyers would fall in love with it, too. Together, we prepared the house, marketed it thoughtfully, and made the sale as seamless as possible. And it worked! Their home received a great offer the first weekend, ultimately selling for $11,000 over the list price!
Tips for Buyers and Sellers in the Portland Real Estate Market
If you’re thinking about buying and selling a home in Portland, here are a few things I’ve learned from Sari & Jace’s experience:
Preparing Your Portland Home for Sale
Staging your home, highlighting its best features, and marketing it effectively can make all the difference in attracting the right buyers.
Timing Your Sale and Purchase for a Smooth Transition
Coordinating your sale and purchase carefully can reduce stress, avoid overlap, and help you move seamlessly into your next home.
Considering Lifestyle Factors: Yard, Neighborhood, and Family
Think beyond the house itself. Yards, neighborhood amenities, and proximity to family or other lifestyle priorities are all crucial.
Leveraging Home Features and Perks During a Move
Sometimes homes come with extra benefits—like included furniture or special features—that can make your transition smoother and add value.
Full-Circle Client Stories: Building Lasting Relationships
I had had the honor of working with Sari and Jace’s children in the past, and now guiding the parents themselves was an extra-special full-circle moment. Relationships matter in real estate, and being part of clients’ ongoing journeys is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Helping Sari and Jace through this process was such a joy. Sweetest people + bigger yard + wagging tails = the happiest move!
