Buying a Home in Portland: Finding the Right Home for Nicole
For Nicole, buying a home in Portland wasn’t just about finding a house she loved. She needed a home that fit the way she lives, works, gardens, and spends time with the people she loves.
Nicole was referred to me through mutual friends, and from the very beginning, her home search was a fun one. She’s a gardener, owns her own flower business, and teaches classes, so finding the right property meant thinking beyond the typical checklist of bedrooms, bathrooms, and square footage.
She needed space to garden, room for her creative work, and a neighborhood where she could enjoy the walkable, close-in Portland lifestyle she wanted.
Finding the Right Fit
We spent quite a bit of time touring homes throughout Portland’s close-in Eastside neighborhoods. There were plenty of great options, but we were looking for that elusive combination of the right house and the right location.
Eventually, we found it.
Nicole’s new home gives her the living space she wanted, room to grow flowers and plants, and a vibrant neighborhood with plenty of places she can walk to. And there was an especially wonderful bonus: she landed incredibly close to her sister and her family.
For Nicole, that combination made the house feel like so much more than just a place to live. It felt like home.
Buying a Home in Portland Is About More Than the House
One of the things I love about helping people with buying a home in Portland is that the “right” home looks different for everyone.
For some buyers, it might mean a big backyard. For others, it could be a home office, a great school district, easy access to public transportation, or being able to walk to their favorite coffee shop.
For Nicole, it meant having space for her garden and creative work while also being part of a neighborhood she could enjoy on foot and being close to her family.
Those details matter.
And sometimes, finding the right home means being patient enough to wait until all of those pieces come together.
A Very Happy Key Day
Nicole was an absolute joy to work with throughout the process. She’s hilarious, thoughtful, warm, and just genuinely fun to be around, which made this home search one I’ll remember for a long time.
And while I’m thrilled to see her settled into a home that fits her so well, I’m definitely going to miss having her as a client!
Congratulations, Nicole! I hope your new home is filled with flowers, family, laughter, creativity, and a ridiculous amount of gardening for many, many years to come.
